SPP Primary Care

A Sleep Promotion Program for Depressed Adolescents in Pediatric Primary Care

Primary Investigator: Jessica Levenson, PhD

This research study aims to iteratively refine the SPP program, implementation, and provider training, per participant and staff feedback and examine the feasibility, effectiveness, and implementation of SPP in pediatric primary care via pilot RCT comparing SPP to Sleep Psychoeducation (SPE), a brief session on healthy sleep habits.

We also aim to evaluate the association between SPP intervention-induced changes in the hypothesized intervention targets (i.e., attitudes about sleep, self-efficacy for sleep, sleep regularization, and healthy technology use) and changes in sleep (i.e., sleep duration and sleep timing regularity). Finally, we aim to evaluate the association between changes in sleep (i.e., sleep duration and sleep timing regularity) and changes in depression, as well as the association of changes in sleep and the hypothesized mechanisms (i.e., emotion regulation and circadian stability).
