Research Interests

Miranda (she/her) is a postdoctoral scholar in the Translational Research Training in Sleep Medicine T32 program. She received her doctorate in Biological Sciences (Neuroscience) from the Department of Neurobiology & Behavior at the University of California, Irvine. Miranda’s research broadly focuses on how sleep and other lifestyle factors interact to influence cognition and brain health. By combining neuroimaging techniques, physiological measurements, and behavioral assessments, her research aims to determine the mechanistic role of sleep and physical activity and fitness in brain dynamics and memory function, with the goal of developing lifestyle interventions to delay or prevent Alzheimer’s disease. Given the heterogeneity in both the pathology and symptomology of Alzheimer’s disease, she is also interested in the biological and sociological contributions to individual differences in cognitive outcomes and Alzheimer’s disease risk.
